Happy Birthday Computer Virus! 20 Years Old Today!
This month marks the 20-year anniversary of the first virus ever detected.
The virus named “Brain” was spread in January 1986 via infected floppy
disks, which targeted a computer's boot sector. This type of virus
delivery faded away during the early nineties along with floppy disks.
To date, there are at least 7000 viruses for the PC that have been
identified and the number of viruses are increasing at about a rate of 2-3
per day.
There are many kinds of viruses, all work in slightly different ways. Some
viruses can be intentionally destructive in destroying data, whilst many
other viruses are merely annoying. The true cost to business of viruses is
enormous.
Your company and your data is only safe if it is properly protected and
local anti-virus software on its own is not enough. A series of safeguards
is required.
ArmourPlate stops viruses at the Internet level, at our datacenters before
they even get a chance to reach an organisation's network.
ArmourPlate uses three respected anti-virus software suites and its own
proprietary suite that detects and stops new viruses that have not yet
been discovered. ArmourPlate could work alongside your existing systems to
safeguard your company's network, data and productivity so giving you
complete peace of mind and full protection.
