 ARMOURPLATE ANTI VIRUS - FAQs
What is the ArmourPlate Anti Virus service?
AP Anti Virus is a fully managed service which protects your business from harmful computer viruses transmitted by email.
Is ArmourPlate Anti Virus a boxed software product?
No. It is a managed service, operated at the Corpex data centre in London, UK.
Will it slow down my company's email?
No, AP Anti Virus will have no perceptible effect on the speed of your email.
Can we use ArmourPlate with other anti-virus software?
Yes, absolutely. Because AP Anti Virus operates outside of your network, it is fully compatible with any other anti-virus software you may already be using.
Is it disruptive or difficult to set up?
No, it is straightforward. Regardless of how many email users you have in your company, both the AP Anti Virus and Anti Spam services are exceptionally easy to set-up and administer.
Do we have to be an existing Corpex customer?
No, any company can use AP Anti Virus, irrespective of which service provider you use for other Internet services.
If ArmourPlate discovers a virus, can we get the message cleaned and forwarded on?
Yes, upon receipt of written authorisation from the recipient of the email, the ArmourPlate support team can clean the email and forward it. However, whilst known viruses may be cleaned from the email, we cannot guarantee that the email will not be infected, in particular, with an, as yet, unidentified virus.
How do we know that the email we receive has definitely been scanned?
A footer will appear on all scanned email advising you that it has been scanned. Encrypted emails are not scanned as this would destroy the encryption.
We already have anti-virus measures in place at the desktop level and the gateway, so why would my company need ArmourPlate as well?
ArmourPlate uses three leading anti-virus scanners to check for known viruses. Even if you already use more than one virus scanner, it is still necessary to keep virus definitions updated and react quickly to new outbreaks. ArmourPlate automatically checks for new virus definitions from the three commercial scanners at ten-minute intervals 24x7x365.

Further, ArmourPlate also deploys heuristics-based analysis (our proprietary Robot 5 suite of applications) to search for tell-tale signs of any potential new virus before it has been identified, thus closing the scanning net even tighter.
What happens when a new virus has been discovered?
AP Anti Virus is able to access new virus definitions immediately when they are released. When ArmourPlate detects a potential new virus it will be intercepted and quarantined for closer examination.
Do I need to have a certain number of employees to subscribe to ArmourPlate Anti Virus?
No, ArmourPlate is cost effective for companies both large and small.
